For the first time in the world... an airport that relies on solar energy

ArabiaWeather.com- In the next few months, India will inaugurate the world's first international airport that depends entirely on solar energy without the need for other energy sources , in Kochi, Kerala state.

The new airport is two and a half times larger than the new section at Pulkovo International Airport in Saint Petersburg, Russia .

The station, which was established to convert solar energy into electricity near the airport, includes about 46,000 photovoltaic cells spread over an area of 182,000 square metres.

It is noteworthy that work at the airport began in 2013, gradually relying on alternative energy sources. The use of traditional electric energy will be completely dispensed with next May.

On the other hand, the local authorities decided not to separate the airport from the city's public electrical grid ; In anticipation of the occurrence of weather conditions during which the weather is continuously cloudy, which makes it impossible to produce a sufficient amount of photovoltaic energy.
